MCT Oil – a coconut oil-based source of extra energy

Foodin Organic MCT Oil is a 100% coconut oil-based oil containing medium-chain triglycerides, or MCTs. The oil contains caprylic acid (C8) and capric acid (C10), and its mild, neutral taste makes it easy to add to a variety of drinks. MCT oil can also be used in low-temperature cooking. If MCT oil is new to you, start with a small amount and follow the instructions on the package.

MCT Oil or Caprylic Acid?

MCT oil and caprylic acid may not be everyday staples in every kitchen, but both originate from familiar coconut oil. The difference is easy to understand: MCT oil is isolated from coconut oil, and caprylic acid is further separated from MCT oil.

MCT oil contains the C8 and C10 fatty acids derived from coconut oil. Caprylic acid is simpler in composition, as it contains only C8 fatty acid. Both are colourless oils with a very mild taste, so they are easy to start using in everyday ways: try a small splash in coffee, a smoothie, or cold dishes such as salads.
