Foodin naturally gluten-free nourishing amaranth flakes make a great smooth porridge, which you can flavor with cinnamon flavored apples. Add Foodin nuts and chia seeds as a topping for extra crunch!  


1 large apple or 2 small apples 

1 tsp Foodin coconut oil for cooking 

2 tsp Foodin coconut sugar 

¼ tsp Foodin Ceylon cinnamon 

2 dl Foodin amaranth flakes 

4 dl water 

2 dl Foodin coconut milk 

About 1/4 tsp salt (or to taste) 

Sweetener to taste such as 1 tbsp Foodin coconut sugar 


Foodin almond or cashew butter 

Foodin nuts such as pecans and dry roasted almonds 

Foodin seeds such as chia seeds 


Chop the apple or apples into small pieces. Cook the pieces in oil with the sugar and cinnamon for about 5 minutes or until the pieces soften. If you cook the apples in the same saucepan where you make the porridge take a few pieces of the cooked apples and set aside to use as a topping. 

To make the porridge add the amaranth flakes, water and coconut milk to a saucepan and cook for about 10 minutes stirring every now and then. Add salt and sweetener to taste. 

Enjoy the porridge warm with almond butter, nuts, chia seeds and the cooked cinnamon apple pieces.
