DECORATE YOUR DESSERTS WITH DESICCATED COCONUT
Crunchy and crispy desiccated coconut is a tropical treat, made from the pulp of carefully selected coconuts. Aside from desiccated coconut, the same tree provides us with coconut chips, coconut oil, coconut milk and coconut cream.
Our desiccated coconut has the familiar, soft and sweet taste of the fruit. It’s been processed gently in low temperatures, ensuring the preservation of its nutrients.
HOW TO USE DESICCATED COCONUT
Desiccated coconut is a great addition to cooking, and you can use them in cooking and snacking. A texture more fine than in coconut chips makes desiccated coconut the perfect decoration for desserts and icings. They’re also great in smoothies and as part of raw chocolates and cake and cookie batters. You’ll often find desiccated coconut as the finishing touch on raw chocolate treats and sweets.
Add desiccated coconut into your nut and berry mixes, porridge or raw chocolate paste. Add a dash of coconut to your doughs for that subtle, tropical note.
FAIR TRADE DESICCATED COCONUT
Our partners in the Philippines educate and train small family farmers in organic and more sustainable farming practices, so that both the environment and the farmers and their families can thrive. The Fair Trade Premium wage is paid directly to the farmers. In addition to this, our partners are implementing various projects to improve the living conditions of the farming communities via Fair Trade programs. Between 2012 and 2015, wells were built in the village of Barangay to ensure access to clean drinking water, which benefited not only the farmers but the entire village. Solar panels were installed, and electricity was provided for basic functions. In June 2017, backpacks and school supplies were donated to children from farmer families. Together with our partner, we are involved in planting trees for farmers that they’re able to sell onwards and earn more income.
