MULBERRIES ARE LUSCIOUSLY SWEET
Mulberries are lusciously sweet berries of the mulberry tree. They’re suitable for snacking as they are, and as part of snack mixes. Because of their caramel-like sweetness, they’re considered the candy of the natural world, and are therefore suitable for the whole family!
Mulberries are particularly good in muesli, porridge and yogurt. The gentle, luscious berries taste amazing in pastries and make great decorations for cakes. Mulberries are also great when paired with raw chocolate – dip mulberries in raw chocolate sauce and add a dash of coconut manna!
These sweet berries ought not to be constricted solely to sweet baking and candy making – the sweetness of the mulberry enhances salty flavours as well, and they work well in salads and rice dishes. Many spicy, hot sauce often need a little sweetness to balance out the flavours.
The mulberries start off white, but turn darker as they ripen. Mulberries have been widely grown in China and Japan, and they travelled via the Silk Road to Turkey and Southern Europe later on. Today, mulberries are enjoyed throughout the world!
