CACAO NIBS BRING AUTHENTIC CACAO FLAVOUR TO BAKING
Cacao nibs are ground from cacao beans, and are a great addition to baking and snacking. The flavour of cacao nibs is strong and bitter, the real taste of the cacao bean. Many enjoy cacao bins as they are, or as part of muesli, granola, raw porridge and trail mixes. You can also add cacao nibs to desserts or smoothies, and use them to prepare your own raw chocolate. Add cacao nibs to doughs, icings and decorations, and add a dash of depth and strong flavour to your next smoothie.
ORIGIN
The history of our Criollo variety cocoa beans take us to the depths of the Amazonian rainforest, where small family farmers grow cacao beans sustainably and according to ethical guidelines. Cultivation methods are developed by providing training and an optimal setting for cacao farming, and our sourcing partners are in close cooperation with the farming communities. This way, the farmers are guaranteed a fair wage, and their children are able to go to school. This ensures that typical problems of mass production, including child labour, are better supervised.
Our sourcing partners are responsible for execution of the education, health care and other supporting functions that create wellbeing in the farming communities. The Organic Certificate ensures that the environment, people and animals are treated just and fair. Our partners have the SPP Certification that ensures funds for the children’s schooling and enables supervising guideline compliance.
PREPARATION OF CACAO NIBS
Ripe cacao beans are fermented for 4-5 days, during which the aromas of cacao develop and they turn from a shade of purple to a lovely brown. After fermentation the beans are dried, after which they are ready for use and crushed into cacao nibs!
Manufactured in a factory that handles gluten-free oats, nuts (cashews, Brazil nuts, pecans, macadamias, hazelnuts and walnuts), almonds, sesame seeds and milk protein.
