CHIA SEEDS ARE AN EXCELLENT SOURCE OF FATTY ACIDS
Originating from South America, the versatile and multi-functional chia seed has gained global popularity. The word “chia” translates to “oily” in ancient aztek, and the little seed has proven to be an excellent source of fatty acids. Chia seeds contain the ideal ratio of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids (3:1).
Chia seeds bind liquid effectively, and many of our customers puff the seeds by soaking them in water before use. Soaked, puffed chia seeds form a gel that can be used as a replacement for eggs in vegan cooking. Puffed seeds are also a filling, delicious ingredient for raw porridges, puddings and smoothies. The mild, soft taste of chia seeds is perfect when combined with coconut, vanilla or soft, sweet berry flavours. We also love combining chia seeds with raw chocolate and different types of fresh and dried fruits. What could be better, than enjoying an afternoon break or slow breakfast with a chocolate or cinnamon apple chia pudding?
