Foodin lentils and organic spices are the perfect base for a delicious dal. Serve the dal with spiced cooked spinach, Foodin Rice Mix – a nourishing, nutty flavored mix of red and black rice.

INGREDIENTS 

Lentil dal 

2 dl Foodin red lentils 

1 tbsp Foodin Extra Virgin olive oil or Foodin ghee 

Small onion or half of a big onion, diced 

2 garlic cloves, diced 

1 small green chili, chopped 

2 tomatoes, cubed 

2 tsp coriander powder 

2 tsp Foodin cumin powder 

2 tsp Foodin turmeric powder 

1 tsp Foodin salt 

6 dl water 

Sag – spiced spinach 

1 tbsp Foodin Extra Virgin olive oil or Foodin ghee 

Half a small onion, diced 

1 garlic clove, diced 

1 tsp Foodin ginger powder 

1 tsp Foodin cumin powder 

1 tsp Foodin mild Curry powder 

1/8 tsp Foodin chili powder 

About 60 g ready to use baby spinach 

1/4 tsp Foodin salt 

Foodin Rice Mix

2 dl Foodin Rice Mix

RECIPE

Lentil dal 

Rinse and drain the lentils according to package instructions. 

Warm the oil or ghee in a pan and sautee the onion. Add the diced garlic, chili, tomatoes and spices. Stir on medium-low heat for a few minutes. Add the lentils, salt and water and let simmer on low heat for 20 minutes or until the lentils are cooked.  

Sag – spiced spinach 

Sautee the onions in oil or ghee for a few minutes. Add the garlic and spices. Stir for a few minutes on medium-low heat. Add the spinach and mix for a few minutes until the spinach has wilted a little. 

Foodin Rice Mix 

Cook Foodin Rice Mix according to package instructions with a little salt or vegetable broth.  

Serve the dal and sag with cooked rice, naan bread and mango chutney. You can also add hearty Tarkari vegetable curry to the meal.
